Heat Insulation

Cooler buildings and lower energy bills, starting from the roof.

In Qatar, the roof is the biggest source of heat gain in low- and mid-rise buildings. Proper roof insulation cuts cooling loads and protects the waterproofing membrane from extreme temperature swings.

Indus installs roof heat insulation as part of a complete roof system — lightweight screed to falls, insulation boards and membrane waterproofing — so the roof is designed and built as one.

Scope of work

  • Lightweight concrete (including perlite concrete) to falls
  • Extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation boards
  • Combined roof systems: screed, membrane and insulation
  • Inverted roof build-ups with protection layers
  • Insulation for villas, palaces, commercial and industrial roofs

Systems we apply

Lightweight concrete

Low-density screed that forms falls and adds insulation value without heavy loads.

Extruded polystyrene

Closed-cell XPS boards with high compressive strength and low water absorption.

Complete roof system

Screed, waterproofing membrane, insulation and protection by one contractor.

Protection layers

Geotextile, screed or tiles to protect the insulation and membrane.

Combining insulation with waterproofing under one contractor removes the risk of one trade damaging the other's work.

How we work

  1. Roof surveyCheck levels, drains, upstands and the existing build-up.
  2. Screed to fallsPlace lightweight concrete to direct water to the outlets.
  3. Waterproof & insulateInstall the membrane and insulation boards in the specified order.
  4. ProtectAdd the protection layer and finish details at drains and parapets.
